The Role

We are on the lookout for an awesome People & Culture Business Partner to help us scale as a business and assist in our exciting growth and development plans.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to provide guidance on all elements of People & Culture and the employee lifecycle. You will have a detailed understanding and experience of managing employee relations issues, as well as providing expert advice and direction across a broad range of areas including; performance management and development, learning & development, industrial relations, cultural initiatives, and immigration. This role will also support the implementation of the wider people strategy across the business, working with all business units within the business to achieve this.

The last 2 years have been huge for us, we have grown from 40 to 180+ team members. Whilst the products that we build are global, the majority of the team sits in Melbourne at our Australian headquarters in the heart of the CBD where we have 4 amazing offices in the same building with all the bells and whistles you could ever want including in-house barista, pool, and table tennis tables, PS5 and Nintendo Switches, a meditation room, help yourself drinks fridge and snack wall, catered breakfast daily, weekly massages and a pub lunch.
About You
You will have a detailed understanding and experience in managing a growing organisation of diverse individuals ideally within the tech or start-up sector. You will get involved in some pretty cool projects that will shape the business as we advance including; implementing a structured and robust onboarding policy, helping shape the P&C function of a growing business and creating exciting career development plans for young leaders and their teams. This role will support the implementation of the broader People and Culture strategy across the organisation, getting exposure to a range of exciting projects.

Requirements
What you’ll do:
Employment Relations
Acting as the point of contact for employee relations cases, escalating when necessary to the Head of P&C
Autonomously leading investigations, asking critical questions and coaching managers on feedback
Providing sound advice, coaching, supporting and challenging managers to ensure decisions are based on awareness of all associated people risks, and those issues are handled fairly and with due process
Keeping abreast of employment legislation to accurately guide managers
People Strategy and Projects
Assisting in the creation of the People Strategy, completing relevant project work to bring it to life throughout the year and owning tasks as required
Being proactive, providing ideas and suggestions, taking a lead role on projects
Immigration
Acting as the escalation point for visa or immigration queries from both employees and the P&C team
Ensuring successful completion of all visa and permanent residency applications, keeping managers and employees informed of progress
Keeping up to date with immigration legislative changes
Ensuring visa databases are up to date and that budgets are managed/signed off
Reporting & Administration
Completing relevant analysis of data, such as career development completion, people stats, leaver feedback, providing a perspective on risks and improvement areas
Providing backup support for the P&C Coordinator including system updates, employee changes, contract generation etc
What you’ll bring:
Essential Experience
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar HR Business Partner or HR Generalist role
End-to-end employee lifecycle exposure
Strong knowledge of HR best practices, policies, and procedures
Demonstrated working knowledge of ER/IR including award interpretations, employment legislation and people “know-how” with regard to managing cases and mentoring leaders to manage people
Proven ability to build strong relationships with business leaders and employees, and to act as a trusted advisor and business partner
Demonstrated experience in leading formal and informal grievances and performance management matters
Commerciality – the ability to apply a reasonable and considered approach to delivery of key outcomes
Knowledge of Australian employment laws and regulations, including Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, and EEOC
Experience in the technology industry would be an advantage
