Job Description
The Foundational Engineering Governance, Risk, and Compliance (Fe GRC) team collaborates with cross-functional teams (Security, Counsel, Engineering, Industry Relations, and Product teams) to ensure Block products can launch anywhere in the world, while maintaining compliance with industry, partner, and regulatory information security standards, requirements, and obligations. As a Security Compliance Manager, you will guide the direction of our technology and security practices to ensure adherence with current and future compliance initiatives.
You will report to the Payment Security Governance Lead and partner with technical and non-technical teams including Security Engineering, IT, Infrastructure, Engineering, and Legal to define and complete long-term cross-functional goals, advise on security compliance practices, and strategically scale our compliance programs.
You will:
Oversee audit and governance management: optimize year-round compliance efforts for Square’s payment processing systems and related internal procedures.
Create and lead ad-hoc analyses of payment technology solutions, security operation process reviews, infrastructure and application implementation reviews, and other technology related risk areas
Lead the creation, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of Block’s Security Policies and Standards
Facilitate the execution of application and network level penetration testing and interpret evidence for vulnerabilities, gaps, and control deficiencies and work with business stakeholders to establish plans for sustainable resolution
Oversee and guide infrastructure and engineering teams on compliance obligations for implementing cloud based solutions
Serve as a subject matter expert on payment and industry regulations and advise business and engineering teams on compliance regulations and requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, SSAE18, ISO 27001/2, NIST 800-53)
Qualifications
You have:
8+ years of experience with security-related regulatory compliance for financial services
Experience in setting up and leading the implementation of information systems governance standards and frameworks
Familiarity with industry security, audit, and privacy standards, frameworks, and regulations (e.g., ISO27001, PCI DSS, GDPR, COBIT)
Experience with IT-related audits (ISO27001, SSAE18, PCI DSS) and balancing internal engineering processes, business needs, and external audit requirements
Experience with cloud security practices and tooling
Significant knowledge and experience in cloud and data center operation and migration projects
Demonstrated experience with controls definition, development, implementation and assessment
Relevant certification (e.g. CISA, CISSP) or equivalent expertise

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $202,500 – USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 – USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 – USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 – USD $210,400
