We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance Manager with ideally crypto and traditional finance compliance experience, preferably with a law background. The successful candidate will be leading and owning Compliance for Japan and potentially other APAC / EMEA region projects as we explore new locations and markets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures for the company’s crypto and traditional finance operations.
Monitor and assess the company’s compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards and report to senior management.
Manage regulatory license applications, filings, inspections and audits.
Stay current with changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices and advise senior management on compliance-related risks and opportunities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement compliance measures and controls, including customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, AML, FCC and sanctions screening.
Conduct compliance training and awareness programs for employees and partners.
Maintain effective relationships with regulators Japanese FSA, industry associations and other stakeholders.
Investigate and respond to compliance-related incidents, issues and inquiries.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance or a related field.
At least 4 years of relevant experience in compliance management, with a focus on both crypto trading / crypto exchange and traditional finance (Fixed Income – Bonds, Rates, Credit derivatives – preferred).
Strong knowledge of Japanese Securities / Asset Management & Crypto regulations in multiple jurisdictions is preferable.
Experience with regulatory license applications, filings, inspections and audits of Japanese FSA etc.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently, with a startup / entrepreneurial mindset who can build from scratch.
