Generally fractional shares aren’t available from the market, and while they have value to investors, they are also difficult to sell. However, it looks as if Robinhood may be selling investments so low ($1) that they don’t even make up one whole share. Less than one full share of equity is called a fractional share. Such shares may be the result of stock splits, DRIPs, or similar corporate actions.

What Is the Definition of a Fractional Share? Does Robinhood allow fractional shares? It’s a very low barrier to entry way to get involved in stocks, but it’s not one that lets you buy fractional shares. …

I’ve heard multiple times you mentioned we could trade fractional stocks using Robinhood. I recently opened an account with Robinhood and found out they do not offer such service. Robinhood plans to let customers invest with as little as $1 If you’re buying or selling fractional shares in dollar amounts, you must enter an amount of at least $1, says Robinhood. However, you’ll have the option to “Sell All” if you have less than $1 of any fractional share.
