About this role in the team:

As the BVNK team works towards offering businesses around the world a frictionless crypto and fiat banking experience, the BVNK Risk and Compliance team is solving some of the most interesting and challenging regulatory questions around, and we’re looking for a financial crime specialist to join our growing team as Senior Financial Crime Compliance Assurance Manager.

As Senior Financial Crime Compliance Assurance Risk Manager you play an integral part of the BVNK team – supporting teams across the business as we navigate the complex regulatory issues of the payments and crypto arena. In this role you will work to ensure that the Risk and Compliance team meets its ambitious objectives and that BVNK grows in a manner that complies with the evolving crypto, payments, financial services, and other regulations that apply to BVNK across multiple jurisdictions.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance you will support the design and implementation of BVNK’s compliance oversight framework for financial crime compliance. This includes being responsible for the financial crime compliance oversight annual plan, including conducting risk-based compliance risk assessment, control testing, assurance plan, and related testing scopes. You will evaluate if the process is aligned with policy and procedures, by conducting reviews, issue reports, and oversight of actions implementation – making sure that assurance drives good decision making across the company and ensuring its alignment with overall business strategy.

We are looking for a team player; someone who is adaptable and enjoys solving complex problems in a constantly changing environment. You must be able to think strategically, prioritise appropriately, manage numerous concurring priorities, and work well under stress. You will be comfortable managing stakeholders across the business and drafting papers for senior audiences, namely senior management and regulators.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

As a Senior Financial Crime Assurance Manager your key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Supporting the design and maintenance of BVNK’s global compliance oversight operating model, ensuring a consistent and scalable approach to assurance in all jurisdictions BVNK Group operates.
Developing and embedding a culture of financial crime compliance assurance through building strong relationships with relevant stakeholders across the Group.
Being a champion for risk management in the company: promoting a culture of proactive risk management, helping embed it into BVNK’s operating model, and communicating frequently to ensure enthusiasm, support and progress for financial crime compliance oversight management across the organisation.
Delivering the agreed oversight testing activities in accordance with the financial crime compliance oversight annual plan
Evaluating if operational activities within financial crime compliance are aligned with policy and procedures
Assisting with financial crime compliance external reviews
Overseeing compliance key risks associated with the financial crime compliance activities, projects, change and growth initiatives.
Validating changes and actions closure regarding identified issues
Providing feedback-loop to key stakeholders on issues and associated mitigating actions
Informing other risk metrics (e.g., KRIs) ensuring a consistent holistic risk overview across the Group
Preparing and presenting findings in a way that is understandable to business stakeholders
Deputise for the Head of Financial Crime Compliance when required.

 

What we need from you:

5-10 years of experience working within a FinTech, traditional financial institution, consultancy or regulatory body.
3+ years of experience in assurance or internal/external audit, focusing on the Financial Crime domain.
Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and managing evolving priorities to deliver against the team’s strategy.
In-depth knowledge of, and experience of implementing, financial crime compliance control environments, risks and policy & procedures testing.
You have previous experience implementing financial crime compliance oversight programs and risk and control self-assessment (RCSA), ideally in a financial services environment.
Experience performing risk control testing.
Demonstrated risk-based decisioning and strategic thinking.
Proactive, time-sensitive, results driven approach in carrying out responsibilities.
You enjoy finding and implementing new tools and technologies that help to drive efficiencies and scalable processes.
Experience in preparing management information for an executive and board level audience.
Ability to work effectively within a team, cross functionally, as well as independently.
Ability to create and deliver projects – breaking big problems/actions up into small and concrete actions.
Excellent written and verbal communications in English writing skills.
